The Mermaid Chair was made into a television movie that debuted on Lifetime September 9, 2006. Academy Award and Golden Globe winner Kim Basinger made her television debut in the film, starring along with Bruce Greenwood, Alex Carter, and Debra Mooney. It was produced by Randy Robinson and Nomad Pictures, directed by Steven Schachter, and written by Suzette Couture.
The DVD was released February 3, 2009 and is available online.
