For the last three years, I’ve been co-writing a memoir with my daughter, Ann, and I am happy to announce that
Traveling with Pomegranates: A Mother-Daughter Story will be published this fall. September 8 to be exact.
Written in our alternating voices,
Traveling with Pomegranates weaves together three stories: Ann’s tumultuous passage into young womanhood, my transit into older womanhood, and above all, it tells the story of us, our mother-daughter story, of the loss, search, and rediscovery in our relationship.
I would like to introduce you to Ann. This 4½ minute
video clip features the two of us delivering the commencement address last May at her Alma Mater, Columbia College in South Carolina. The speech intertwines our individual stories about becoming writers. When I watched the clip myself, I was reminded that working with my daughter– whether collaborating on a speech or a book, and weaving together the stories of our journeys, has been an incredible experience.
